Beaulieu Vineyard Winemaker Trevor Durling, presides as only the fifth winemaker in the winery’s 119-year history. A native Californian, Trevor was raised in Sonoma County, the heart of Northern California’s wine country. With a love of agriculture, science and cuisine, Trevor pursued his studies at the University of California Davis in the Viticulture and Enology program. As winemaker at Beaulieu Vineyard, Trevor incorporates his passion for creating fine wines, while preserving the heritage and legacy of Beaulieu Vineyard.

The 2021 season was joyous and welcomed after the challenges of previous vintages, producing exceptionally high-quality fruit, some of the best in recent years. Early rain led to almost no notable precipitation for the rest of the season, providing an ideal environment for grapes to flower, bloom, and set in early spring, with budbreak early in April, followed by flowering and bloom in May. The summer saw early and even ripening, with veraison appearing in early July. Low yields (partly due to drought conditions), created intensely flavored fruit and smaller berry size. With optimal ripening, our winemakers took their time bringing grapes in, crafting wines of fantastic character, amazing color extraction, aromatic intensity, tremendous balance and structure that are equally lush and fruity. A tremendous year to taste the nuances and terroir distinction.

This Sauvignon Blanc shows a true sense of place, coming from outstanding sites in the Rutherford AVA, with the majority from our own estate vineyards on the eastern Rutherford bench. Rutherford, located in the heart of Napa Valley, has the perfect climate and ideal soils for Sauvignon Blanc. Each block was picked at its peak maturity and fermented separately to increase complexity. Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc creates a wine rich and round with tropical fruit undertones.
