Our 2019 Madame de Latour is an elegant expression of an exceptional vintage. The powerful nose is layered with dark cassis, wild blackberry, and faded rose petal. Barrel notes of cocoa nib and toasted hazelnut add complexity to the aroma and flavor profile. The palate leads to a concentrated, plush core of inky dark cherry, fresh plum, and black tea leaves. Velvety, fine-grained tannins weave seamlessly with fresh acidity to create a focused wine with a lengthy, mouthwatering finish. To enjoy this wine at its full potential, we recommend two to five years of bottle aging; however, if you can’t wait, decant before serving.

Beaulieu Vineyard Winemaker Trevor Durling, presides as only the fifth winemaker in the winery’s 119-year history. A native Californian, Trevor was raised in Sonoma County, the heart of Northern California’s wine country. With a love of agriculture, science and cuisine, Trevor pursued his studies at the University of California Davis in the Viticulture and Enology program. As winemaker at Beaulieu Vineyard, Trevor incorporates his passion for creating fine wines, while preserving the heritage and legacy of Beaulieu Vineyard.
After hand harvesting, the grapes were immediately delivered to the winery where they were destemmed and cold soaked for 5 days to gently ease color and flavor. During the roughly 12-day fermentation, timely pump overs kept the skins in contact with the juice for excellent flavor and tannin extraction. The wine spent 20 months in 90% new French oak barrels giving the final wine softened tannins and beautiful toasty barrel notes.
The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. Spring continued to be wet with some rain during flowering, followed by cool temperatures that allowed the grapes to mature gradually. Most grapes ripened at lower sugars, thanks to the extended, cool growing season, and winemakers were pleased with the full flavors, fresh acidity, and superb balance of the 2019 fruit. The resulting crop showed a modest yield with a slightly more compact structure and extract than in previous years.
Sitting in the southeastern corner of the Napa Valley, we sourced the Cabernet Sauvignon from the highly acclaimed Meteor Vineyard in the Coombsville AVA. The cool climate growing region is home to gravelly loam and well-draining rocky volcanic soils which produce wines with complex floral and earth qualities, in addition to focused acidity and commanding tannins. As a note of juxtaposition, BV Ranch No. 10 Malbec was added to this unique blend to provide plushness and complexity to the wine. This Rutherford ranch enjoys optimal sun exposure and experiences cooling influences from regular morning fog. The long even growing season produces full-bodied concentrated wines that highlight the appellation’s signature Rutherford Dust flavor profile.
