For more than 100 years, Beaulieu Vineyard has been setting the standard for rich, classic Napa Valley wines. Our legacy honors the marriage between state-of-the-art technology and gentle, traditional winemaking methods, a combination that enhances the expression of our remarkable vineyard terroir. Inspired by “the Maestro” himself, famed Beaulieu Vineyard Winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, these limited production wines allow us to experiment with unique varietals, vineyard lots and blends. The fruit for this wine comes from Beaulieu Vineyard Ranch 2 which lies just south of Beaulieu Vineyard Ranch 1 on the westside of Hwy 29 in the heart of Rutherford.
A stellar example of Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Maestro Ranch No. 2 offers deep aromas of brambleberry, boysenberry, black currant, and vanilla with a nice black pepper lift. On the palate, aromas evolve into flavors of black fruit berries and roasted cocoa. Dusty Rutherford notes emerge herbacious notes on the finishing palete. Dense & strong, the tannins support all of the flavors and aromas allowing the wine to extend into an incredible finished that is sure to enjoy. Drink over the next 10 to 20 years, decant if you would like to enjoy immediately.
The Napa Valley region enjoyed a stunning, near picture-perfect 2018 growing season including good winter rains, mild spring weather and steady temperatures throughout that allowed for even flowering and bud break. These ideal growing conditions were followed by a cool, even and slow-paced harvest which allowed the winery to vinify wines at a gentle pace. The resulting 2018 Cabernets are of very high quality with plenty of concentrated flavors, color and excellent acidity.
The fruit for this wine comes from Beaulieu Vineyard Ranch 2 which lies just south of Beaulieu Vineyard Ranch 1 on the westside of Hwy 29 in the heart of Rutherford. The 85-acre vineyard is planted to mostly Cabernet Sauvignon although a small amount of high quality Sauvignon Blanc is also grown here. Like BV Ranch 1, this vineyard site enjoys optimal sun exposure and experiences the cooling influences from regular morning fog allowing for a long, even growing season. BV Ranch 2 is known for producing full bodied, concentrated wines with that signature “Rutherford Dust” flavor profile.
To develop this wine’s complex fruit expression, we first cold soaked the destemmed grapes for gentle flavor extraction. During fermentation, regular pumpovers incorporate the flavor-rich skins into the juice. Malolactic fermentation, which naturally changes the malic acid into softer lactic acid, rounds the flavors. The wine barrel aged approximately 20 months in French oak.

With a love of agriculture, science and cuisine, Trevor pursued his studies at the University of California Davis in the Viticulture and Enology program. As winemaker at Beaulieu Vineyard, Trevor incorporates his passion for creating fine wines, while preserving the heritage and legacy of Beaulieu Vineyard.
