Sharing Stories Over Georges de Latour

Our Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet is a testament to the dedication and vision of Georges and Fernande de Latour. This Father's Day, savor the rich history and remarkable flavors of Beaulieu Vineyard as you toast to the beautiful journey that began over a century ago.

100 Years of Quality

Georges de Latour, the founder of Beaulieu Vineyard and a dedicated father of two, carved out a niche for himself in the world of fine wines. The journey of the renowned Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon began in 1938 when André Tchelistcheff, a talented winemaker, joined Beaulieu Vineyard. He was offered a taste of the de Latour family's private wine, a remarkable Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1936 vintage.

A Cult Classic

The distinctiveness of this Private Reserve made an unforgettable impression on Tchelistcheff. So much so, he passionately insisted that it deserved to be more than a family secret. Thus, in 1940, the winery released the first vintage of Private Reserve, named to honor our founder, Georges de Latour. This release marked the debut of the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Not just any wine, it was destined to become the Napa Valley’s first “cult” Cabernet, setting a precedent in the world of fine wines. In the eight decades since that momentous decision, the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has not only retained its prestigious status but also evolved as the benchmark of Napa Valley Cabernet. It has also emerged as one of the most collected American wines. This Father's Day, as we open a bottle of Georges de Latour, we aren't just sharing a wine; we're sharing a legacy. As we listen to our fathers narrate their life stories, experiences, and wisdom, the wine serves as a parallel narrative of heritage, persistence, and refinement.

Continue the Legacy

Our Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, much like our fathers, has a rich story woven through decades. And there's no better time than now to explore these narratives. Here are some thought-provoking questions you might consider asking your father or answering for your own children to deepen your bond and continue the legacy.
