Beaulieu Vineyard® to pour wines for 2nd Consecutive Year at The Governors Ball

Following the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards

(Napa, CA, August 15, 2005) - Beaulieu Vineyard, a leader in Napa Valley with over 100 years of excellence and innovation in winemaking, will be the featured wine poured at the Governors Ball, the official party of the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards, to be held on September 18, 2005 at the Shrine Auditorium. This is the second consecutive year that BV wines will be poured at both this event and the Creative Arts Awards Dinner, which will be held at the Shrine one-week prior, on September 11, 2005.”

“It is a tremendous honor for BV to be selected again for the Emmy celebrations,” said Vice President of Winemaking, Joel Aiken. “We pride ourselves on making world-class, delicious wines that represent the best that California can offer. To be pouring again at the Emmys makes me feel like I won an award myself.”

Beaulieu will be pouring the BV Rutherford Cabernet and BV Napa Sauvignon Blanc for the Emmys, which, according to Aiken, will pair beautifully with Master Chef Joachim Splichal's impressive menu for the Governors Ball. The Rutherford Cabernet is elegant and full-bodied with luscious notes of cassis, blackberry and toffee. The Cabernet pairs well with a variety of meat dishes, and also with dark chocolate. The BV Napa Sauvignon Blanc has notes of kiwi, grapefruit and citrus zest. Fresh and crisp, the lean style pairs well with goat cheese, fish and Chef Splichal’s savory hors d’oeuvres.

“The Beaulieu Vineyard wines to be poured at the Creative Arts Awards Dinner will be BV Coastal Estates Chardonnay and BV Coastal Estates Cabernet. The Coastal Estates Chardonnay works well as an aperitif or with a meal. It features apple, peach, and citrus notes, while the Cabernet shows excellent balance; nice, moderate tannins, and rich varietal fruit.”

Beaulieu Vineyard, established in 1900, is a landmark Napa Valley winery with a tradition of quality and innovation. Founded by an immigrant, Georges de Latour, BV set early standards for excellence in premium winemaking that subsequent generations of vintners continue to maintain. BV holds a unique place in the history of California wineries and is one of the most collected American Cabernets.

Beaulieu Vineyard wines are produced by Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, which is part of Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business. DC&E also produces and markets Sterling Vineyards, the wines of the Chalone Wine Group, Sterling Vintner's Collection, Solaris, Blossom Hill and The Monterey Vineyard, as well as the French wines of Barton & Guestier. DC&E is also a leading importer of classified Bordeaux in the U.S. and F. E. Trimbach wines from Alsace. A collection of burgundy estate-bottled wines and several other fine European wines complement the selection. Diageo's broader business includes: Smirnoff Vodkas and flavored malt beverages, Guinness, Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur, Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey and Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, as well as many other of the world's leading premium drinks brands.
